Registration numbers for comparable UK trade marks

Details of the new comparable UK trade marks are starting to emerge from the UKIPO, with confirmation of the numbering system that will be applied to the new rights.

The UKIPO are aiming to keep administration to a minimum, and therefore, will be retaining the original EUTM number but prefixing it with UK009 so that it is clearly identifiable from existing UK trade marks.

The example below from the IPO shows how comparable UK trade marks will be numbered:

As previously outlined by the IPO, all EUTMs that are registered on the day the UK exits the EU, will be granted a comparable UK right.
